Frequently Asked Questions – Volatile Organix

Our terpenes are highly concentrated and should be diluted before use. We recommend following specific guidelines for safe handling and usage.

Our terpenes are hemp derived, hemp is cannabis that under 0.3% THC. This also allows us to offer a much more diverse range of terpenes and other volatile aroma and flavor compounds that can not be replicated with botanical terpenes.

Our terpenes are derived from organically compliant sources. While not USDA Certified Organic, they are natural, non-GMO, and free from solvents and harmful additives.

No terpene company can assure the safety of any flavor, terpene, diluent, or aroma chemical for vaporization. It is the customer’s responsibility to assess the safety of the end products made using items purchased from our website. Improper use of terpene products or additives can pose risks.

The only solvent used during processing is steam (H2O). Terpenes themselves can act as natural solvents, for instance D-limonene is a common industrial solvent. While our terpenes do not contain added solvents, they may contain trace amounts of naturally occurring solvents which are well within safety thresholds.

We extract our terpenes from actual cannabis (hemp) plants and there is usually a very small amount of cannabinoids present and that will be shown on the COA. The cannabinoids present are usually well under 0.1% which is well under the legal limit for hemp products in the US, EU, and most other countries.

Terpenes have a wide array of applications. In the context of cannabis, they are added to products such as distillate to enhance flavors, aromas, and effects. Beyond cannabis, they are commonly used in food, beverages, perfumes, and cosmetics for their aromatic qualities.

Terpenes can be used in a variety of products, from edibles and beverages to cosmetics and perfumes. We provide guidelines for dilution and usage to ensure safe and effective application.

How Should Terpenes be Stored?
Terpenes should be stored in a cool, dark place to prevent degradation. They are sensitive to light, heat, and oxygen exposure. We store our terpenes in freezers under a blanket of inert gas (argon) to prevent oxidation.

Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in many plants, including hemp. They are responsible for some of the distinct scents and flavors of each plant, and play a key role in the effects and experiences of hemp products.

Volatile Organix products older than six months should be discarded. Terpenes deteriorate over time, and for optimal results, storage in a cool, dark place is recommended.
